At Haven Charter Schools, (North Bay and Bay Haven campuses) we hold a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by our military families. As CEO, I want to personally express our gratitude for your service and dedication. We understand the unique challenges that come with military life, and we are committed to providing the support and resources your children need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are proud to house Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC) on each of our school campuses. These professional licensed clinicians, with advanced degrees and experience working with children, are dedicated to supporting the well-being of our military students. Whether helping students navigate the challenges of frequent relocations, deployments, or other aspects of military life, our MFLCs are here to ensure that your children have the support they need to succeed.

Student Led Transition Programs

Our Student-Led Transition Programs are specifically designed for military families navigating the challenges of frequent relocations. These innovative initiatives empower students to take the lead in their own transitions, providing them with essential skills and resources to adapt to new schools and communities. Through peer mentorship, and collaborative activities, students will build confidence, forge connections, and share their experiences. Our programs aim to create a supportive network where military students can thrive, turning challenges into opportunities for growth and leadership.

    The Student Government Association is a student-led group representing the interest of all students in decision making processes. SGA's elected student representatives and general assembly members work with teachers and administrators to positively impact the school culture and environment through events, activities, fundraising, and student representation.

Installation School Liaison Program

The School Liaison Program aims to connect schools, families, and communities in order to meet the educational needs of the military-connected child. The goals of the program are to:

  • Promote communication between local K-12 schools, military families, installation and surrounding communities.
  • Promote parental involvement in their children's education.
  • Identify barriers to academic success.
  • Develop solutions in partnership with local schools and military-connected families to overcome obstacles to successful education and school transition.

SCHOOL MILITARY FAMILY LIFE COUNSELORS (MFLC)
Military Family Life Counselors are professional licensed clinicians with Masters or Doctorate level education and have experience working with children.
MFLC Roles and Responsibilities
Offer confidential, short-term, and non-medical counseling services to children, parents, faculty, and staff.
Support teachers and administration at their as- signed school.
Work directly with military children/families or an adult impacted by a military child.
Adhere to Duty to Warn protocol.
MFLC's Are Available To:
Observe, participate, and engage in activities with children and youth.
Provide direct interventions in the classroom set- ting. Model behavioral management techniques and provide feedback to staff.
Suggest courses of age-appropriate behavioral in- terventions to enhance coping and behavioral skills.
Outreach to parents.
Facilitate psychological educational groups. Conduct trainings for staff and parents.
Recommend referrals to military social services and other resources as needed.
